Brief Description Patel's work reveals a certain single-mindedness in this respect that is visible even in recent works, l;ike image in search of images. Early in the 60's Jeram, Patel starts experimenting with incision created on wood through the action of a blowlamp. The scorched, pitted surface is then worked over with enamel paint, sometimes coupled with plastic emulsion, tin sheets and nails. Patel's statement is revealing of his aim; "Nobody can create anything, the only thing one can do is destroy, things". These works reveal the quality of a primal encounter between the artists subjectivity and the material in a process that has overtones of painfully erotic combat.
