Brief Description
Lime Stone - Dome-slab shows three panels. Top - birth of
Siddhartha. Centre - Mahabhinishkramana. Bottom - Mara's
assault. Mended.
Detailed Description
Dome-slab of a stupa narrating the events in Buddha's life in
three panels. The Upper register narrates the birth of
Siddhartha. Mayadevi delivering the child in the Lumbini
garden. Four Maha-Brahmas are receiving the child on a golden
net. Maya stands against the Sala tree in attractive
posture. Gautama is represented as a purna-kalasa to the
right side of Maya. A lady holding a chhatra (umbralla)
appears above as a mark of sovereignty (Chakravartin). The
middle panel enunciates Mahabhinishkramana(Great
renunciation) scene. The bottom panel shows the assault of
Mara and victory of Master. Mended.
