In order that the depressed class should get the right to equality and humanity and enjoy the same privileges as other people, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar started the Satyagraha at the Kalaram Mandir at Nashik on 3rd March 1930. There were 125 men and 25 women in the first group of Satyagrahis. This Satyagraha was carried on further under the able guidance of Dr. Babasaheb by local leaders like Bhaurao Gaikwad, Amrutrao Rankhambe, Anantrao Gadre etc. until 1935.
