Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Chairman of the constitution committee, submitted the first draft of the Indian Constitution to Dr. Rajendra Prasad in February 1948. This proposed constitution, was approved as the Constitution of India on 26th November 1949. In his speech delivered on this memorable occasion Dr. Rajendra Prasad felicitated Dr. Babasaheb for his admirable and invaluable work in the Constitution Committee. He also made a reference to the aptness of the selection of Dr. Ambedkar as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee. The historical significance of the occasion made Dr. Ambedkar known nationwide as ‘Modern manu’ and a visionary.
