Brief Description
The Columbia University conferred upon Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar the degree of "Doctor of Laws". The convocation held at Columbia University, New York on 5th June 1952. The degree was printed in Latin and English. Mr. Grayson Kirk, Vice President of the University read out about the contents of the printed matter at the gathering.” The architect of the Indian Constitution, a prominent member of the Cabinet Ministers, a leading citizen of India and a great social reformer’. These were the glowing terms in which Dr. Babasaheb was referred to.
Unfortunately, Maisaheb was unable to attend the convocation, in spite of wanting to do so, owing to financial constraints and official restrictions in travelling to a foreign land.
