Brief Description
The joyful festival of colours, Holi is being celebrated in the court of Raj Singh II of Mewar. In the middle register Maharana Raj Singh II is depicted standing and welcoming a group of royal people came to play holi. At another place Maharana Raj Singh II has a golden nimbus behind his head and seated on throne. He is throwing colour from a gold cup on one of the royal person leading to this group. He is seated on knee in front of the king. A huge tank of colourful water is depicted in the centre of the composition and other courtiers are seems standing around the water tank.
This painting is remarkable because of the juxtaposition of colours that the artist has used, contrasting bright orange with subdued green. The Artist has paid special attention to architectural details showing beautiful paintings on the walls of the hall.
