Brief Description
The painting is based on a series of the Gita Govinda. Gita Govinda is collection of Sanskrit poems created by Jayadeva dealing with the divine love of Radha and Krishna. The scene is laid on the bank of a river shown partially in the foreground. Radha is seated on the bank of river. She is trying to cover her face by veil while a gopi seems to hold her left hand. Another gopi is seated behind Radha and conversing something.
Both the gopis are trying to convince Radha to go to meet Krishna who is eagerly waiting for Radha. Krishna is standing on the left surrounded by trees.
