Brief Description
The painting is divided in to five parts against red and blue
background. On the left hand side, Kaushalya is lying on a
bed looking at her son and a maid is rocking Rama's cradle. Below
Kaushalya, Kaikeyi is shown on her bed and a maid is rocking
the cradle of her son Bharata. To the right of Kakeyi,
Sumitra is peacefully resting and a maid is rocking the cradle
of
Lakshmanan. Sumitra's second son, Shatrughna, can be seen
sleeping beside her.
On the right side raja Dashratha seated
in front of sage Vashishtha who has prepared the princes'
horoscopes while on the other side people are shown
celebrating the birth of Rama and his three brothers.
