Brief Description

The painting is representing a scene based on the story of the epic Ramayana. It is depicted an event while goddess Sita concert of God Rama undergoes an ordeal of fire (Agni Pariksha) by which she proves her chastity before she accepted by the Rama. In the upper register of the painting against a blue sky Brahma, Siva, Indra and other gods are shown showering flowers on Sita.

In the lower register of the Painting against a red field at right corner Sita is shown seated in a palanquin carried by two men. Hanuman is shown standing on the ground. In the centre of the lower register God Agni is coming out from the fire and offer Sita back to Rama.
