Brief Description

Prof. Vidya Bhushan's painting is a play with color and fluid forms.

While his abstraction is typically a morphing of the figurative, his use of contrasting colors makes for narrative through pure abstraction.

Detailed Description

Prof. Vidya Bhushan, a freedom fighter and an artist worked with oils, egg-tempera, water colour, etchings murals in mosaic, and frescoes. He is one of the few artists, in India, to have made original copies of the Ajanta cave paintings and its widely recognized as being the only artist to do so using egg-tempera medium. Vidya Bhushan was deputized by the State Government to work in the caves as early as 1952, and was commissioned by the Archeological Department of Hyderabad to copy the Ajanta murals for their archives.

He was also commissioned by the State Government to make portraits of Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel, Abdul Kalam Azad, T.Prakasham, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
