Shanti Dave born in Gujarat Dave joined the Faculty of Fine Arts of the MS University in Baroda, where he obtained both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in painting. Known as a muralist and a painter, Dave has excelled in his passion for painting colossal murals in various public spaces and art institutions across the globe. Painting in a non - object, abstract manner employing the use of religious and tantric symbols, folk and rural art imagery the artist's visual language is at once distinctive.

The artist is known to have extended his craftsmanship to sculpting and printing involving at times unconventional materials. The artist has been conferred upon with Padma Shree and the National Art Academy Award on three occasions (1956, 1957 and 1958).
