Pakhal Tirumal Reddy known as P T Reddy was born in 1915, in Annaram village, Karimnagar district, Telangana, India. He studied at J. J. School of Art, Bombay got his diploma in painting in 1939. At the time Reddy was one of the prominent artists who played a significant role in introducing Modern Art movements of Europe in India. P T Reddy also formed a group named 'Young Turks, in 1941, along with the fellow contemporary artists. Reddy's artistic oeuvre was influenced both by traditional Indian paintings and Post-Impressionist style. He continued integrating European 'ism's' with Indian painting throughout his career, by choosing Indian subject matters depicted in a variety of Modern European styles. Soon his work began growing more abstract and started to reflect Buddhist, Hindu and Tantric symbols and structures.
