This landscape with historic boat of Tagores is made by Elizabeth Sass Brunner. Both the mother and Daughter artist duo came to India from Hungary in 1930 upon the invitation of the noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore.  Elizabeth Sass Brunner was know for her landscapes with brushstrokes reflecting her eternal spiritual journey that was seeking throughout her travels in India and beyond, while her daughter was known for the portraits she made of major Indian personalities.  

This landscape painting too reflects the similar spirit of her journey to Chandranagar with vivid colors and brushstrokes creating the mystic sky.  

Detailed Description

Elizabeth Sass Brunner was a Hungarian Artist born in 1889 in Budapest. She lived and travelled in India extensively on pilgrimage tours with an artistic interest. She along with her daughter Elizabeth Brunner came to India in the year 1930 in search of a new path in life. Both the mother and daughter duo became the respected figures in Indian artistic life with their art subjects concentric on the life and spirit of India.

Throughout their travel in India together they painted landscapes, mountains, forests, monuments and people along with major Indian personalities being received by Ravindranath Tagore, several Maharajas and also many prominent Indian spokesmen.
