Brief Description Lime Stone - Ayaka-pata. Buddha is shown seated in the centre. Devotees including Sakra(Indra) are seated all around. The scene is carved in a lotus out line. Mended.
Detailed Description Ayaka-pata used for encasing the frontage of an ayaka- platform in two parts. It contains a beautifully carved seated Buddha with his right hand raised in the Pravachana- mudra: (The posture of preaching) at the centre, The main figure is surrounded by devotees including Sakra(Indra), gandharva Chitrasena and other gods. The scene may present Buddha as preaching the abhidhamma to the divinities at the Trayastrimsa heaven. The whole scene is composed within a large medallion with a lotus petal border set amidst the backdrop of a railing. Much of the top left side of the panel is broken and missing.
