Brief Description
Lime Stone - Dome slab depicts top to bottom:
1. Running animals
2. seated Buddha in abhaya-mudra, devotees on either side,
two deer on the fore ground seated.
3. The Buddha being given alms.
4. The Buddha reaching the diamond throne - the Buddha
seated on a coiled serpent-(Muchilinda).
Detailed Description
Fully carved and fairly well preserved dome slab. From top to
bottom the following are seen : (1) Animals moving towards
right along the top border;(2) First sermon of Buddha at
Sarnath- seated Buddha with right hand held in Abhaya-mudra
flanked on either side by royal persons and monks and a pair
of deer on the foreground near the throne; (3) Buddha
receiving alms from Tyapussa and Bhallika, and (4) Buddha
being protected from storm by serpent king Muchalinda and
Buddha approaching the diamond throne.
