Brief Description

An oriental painting of Prince Dara Shikoh, the eldest son and heir-apparent of the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan. In 1658, during the illness of his father a great battle took place between him and his brother Aurangzeb for the throne, in which Dara defeated and had to fly.

He was subsequently captured and murdered by the order of Aurangzeb.
