Nirode Mazumdar (May 11, 1916 - September 26, 1982) was an Indian painter from the first generation of Indian modernists and a key member of the Calcutta Group which rejected the lyricism and the romanticism seen in the work of earlier Bengali artists and expressed the need for a visual language that could reflect the crisis of urban society.
