1781-1845 He was a civil servant and an amateur painter who painted numerous images on Calcutta and suburbs. He was born in Murshidabad in September 17, 1781 where his father served as a resident of the East India Company at the court of Nawab Babur Ali of Murshidabad. He went to England for his formal education and arrived back in India in the age of 17 to serve in number of offices in different locations.

His work carried him Dhaka where he served as a Collector, he made a number of paintings there especially of the ruins of the Mughal architecture. He also painted vividly places like Bihar, Rajmahal, Serampore and Calcutta. The subject of his works are not different from other European painters, those were Indian lifestyle, festivals, temples, river scenes, processions and ruins of the past.
