William Butterworth Bayley (1782-1860): Half length figure, holding a book in the right hand. The eyes look directly at the spectator. Officiating Governor-General, March - July 1828. Entering the Bengal civil Service in 1798, Bayley was a Member of the Supreme Council at Fort William from 1825 to 1830.
After his return to England, he was a Director of the Company from 1834 to 1858, and was elected Deputy Chairman in 1839 and Chairman in 1840.
